Valley of the Moon is one of the premier rock climbing destinations in southern California. There are plenty of established routes and it is never crowded, it is also a great place to hike and explore. This area contains the point at which San Diego county, Imperial county and Mexico meet. -
Weather
-More Thunderstorms Over San Diego-
There have been thunderstorms throughout San Diego county today and the HPWREN cams have great views of the weather. Most of the action has been throughout Anza Borrego but there have been a few storms in the western portion of the county. The National Weather Service has also posted a Red Flag Warning due to the frequent lightning. This lightning could start fires in less developed areas.

Misc
-Aerial Photos-
On the flight from San Diego to Denver I had a window seat and was able to take some photos of the mountains around southern California. I could recognize most of the prominent peaks and some of the less prominent ones. It was amazing to see the mountains I have hiked from this vantage point.

-Kwaay Paay Peak-
SDC: #10
Elevation: 1,194 ft.
Date Hiked: 8-14-09
Trip Report:
This was a spur of the moment trip. This hike is short, easy but has some good views of San Diego County. I left home after work and drove to the trailhead in Mission Trails Regional Park. It was easy to find because I was somewhat familiar with the area as I have rock climbed here many times before.
