Trip Report:
Two weeks ago I hiked up Mt. Baldy. I really enjoyed this hike and wanted to do it again while there was still snow. I left Friday after work and made my way to the trailhead. As soon as I got to the trailhead I fell asleep. I slept well and got up around 6:30, I was hiking by 7.
I made good time up to the Sierra Club ski hut which I arrived at in just over an hour and 15 minutes. There were not to many people on the trail which surprised me as it was a Saturday. I ate and got ready for the climb up the bowl near the hut. I left and started up the center of the bowl, I wanted to take a different route then I did a few weeks ago so I chose a different couloir.
After I reached the top of the couloir I took a short break than made my way to the summit. I was feeling the effects of the altitude because I had not drank enough water. When I reached the summit I was the only one there and stayed just a short while. It was windy and cold on top. The views were also not very good it was hazy around the mountain range. It took 3.5 hours to reach the summit.
I descended to the Harwood Baldy saddle and then down to the hut and finally down to Manker Flats. It took just over 5 hours round trip. This was 3 hours faster than my last trip.

Great writeup and pictures! I have yet to hike Mt. Baldy in the winter, but now that I have been practicing with my ice axe and crampons I think it will be the first real mountaineering trip I attempt. Your time was impressive.
Nice trip report. What did you do differently to shed 3 hours off your time?
Thanks for the comments! David, I was by myself this time around and did not have to wait for other people. I also only took maybe 10 minutes worth of breaks.
