Trip Report:
This was the second hike of the day after Garnet Mountain. It was a great hike which I had done before. The route starts across the street from the Paso Picacho campground near Cuyamaca Peak. It costs $8 to park in the day use section of the campground. It is a well marked trail which has wood railings on each side. The route switchbacks up the mountain to the rocky summit. The summit block has a bolted railing to the very top which is unfortunate because there could have been some nice class 3 scrambling to the summit. The summit area does have a few technical rock climbs.
Stonewall Peak from the Trail to Cuyamaca Peak
On the hike today the weather was constantly moving in from the west. We saw the cloud bank slowly advancing to the east from the summit of Garnet Mountain. When we began to hike Stonewall the clouds had moved in over Cuyamaca Peak and had begin to move our way. The wind was really strong which would pushed the clouds over the peak. The trial to the summit was uneventful and easy. There were scattered patches on snow from a previous storm along the trail. It did not take long to reach the summit. It was cold and windy on the summit. I had to put on my jacket and gloves. I took the standard panorama of pictures, and admired the views. On the way down we took a different way and descended directly down the ridge. There was some enjoyable scrambling involved in this. Here are some photos from the trip.

Good to see you are back at it again. You were on Stonewall just a couple of days before me. I hope to see you out there sometime.
